Meet Simon
Hi, I'm Simon and I've been lucky to have had the opportunity to write over 30 gardening books.
Topics include pruning, garden design, flower borders and ornamental plants, composting, plants in containers, kitchen gardening, lawns, trees and shrubs, gardening quiz books to name a few. I also write regularly for national newspapers as well as garden and lifestyle magazines and have featured and presented on various TV gardening programs. I've written for Grow Your Own Magazine for the last 12 years.
I was previously a Head Gardener for the National Trust and RHS (Royal Horticultural Society). Gardens I've managed include RHS Wisley, RHS Harlow Carr, Sheffield Park, Polesden Lacey, Coleton Fishacre, Compton Castle and Agatha Christie's Greenway. I also worked as a horticultural researcher, writer and producer for the BBC for a number of years.
I believe passionately in encouraging everyone to grow plants. You don't need much space. A window-box, porch or indoor windowsill will do. Not only do plants make your surrounding space look more beautiful, but it helps the wildlife and the planet too. It also helps keep you fit and healthy as well as providing you with your own delicious food. Gardening helps you and your neighbours feel good about themselves. Everybody is a winner and we all feel happier. So what are you waiting for....grab a trowel and get planting.
